67. to William, the Bishop of Orange (1130/41)
To the venerable and much beloved of us lord William, bishop of Orange, the brother Peter, humble abbot of Cluny sends greetings.
Spare my friends, my brothers, my sons, if it is pleasing, lest you wish to obtain a stain on your honour, and lest you desire both to rejoice in the ignominy of vile men and to grow rich on seizures from the poor. But if this does not please you, declare the day on which (though we profit nothing from a friend) in the apostolic scrutiny,
